The Bitter Sweet Life…

…of a girl who thinks too much.

Life is Good! June 1, 2009

(I’ve got a cat behind my laptop as I write this, and all I can see it is a furry stomach and a pair of curled up paws. Adorable.)

My parents have been in town for 3 nights and I have to say that it was one of the most pleasant stay overs I’ve experienced with them. For one, my mom was in a good mood, which was a first for her while in Helsingborg! :)

Other reasons? The apartment is as clean as it can be and we’ve eaten good food throughout the weekend.

Friday:
Ribs
Halloumi salad

Saturday:
Mum’s lamb *yum!*

Restaurant food, where the quality of the food and company was as high as the price that came along with it. *Poor dad*

Sunday:
Bears tandoori chicken and best potato salad ever! Why? Because it was the first one I’ve tasted without any of that awful dill!

Caesar salad a’la Maina

Monday:
Bears home made meatballs – always a winner. :)

…Can’t get much better.

On top of that my parents have a wonderful habit of giving us the monetary means to refill our fridge and freezer to our taste when they visit, so more good food to come!

I got to see a completely new side of my mother-in-law on Saturday as well. I got to meet a very relaxed and happy woman who could kick back once the responsibilities were of her shoulders. Wonderful to see.

I even got my first summer sunbathing done!

Now, I just need to sit down, get started, and send off my final paper for this term so the Bear and I can fly to London next weekend with a clear conscience! (Good thing my parents have done such a god job of scaring our cats half to death all weekend that they’re now quietly recuperating. ;)

Sweet kisses to all!

Friends Are Good to Have April 27, 2009

First of all, I have such a hard time trusting friends. I think I’ve written about it once before that to me, boyfriends have very often lasted longer than tight friendships that I meet often. Don’t get me wrong; I have good friends. Amazing and wonderful friends whom I know I can rely on if I only dare to, who’ve been around for half my life. Maybe it’s because of them (and the Bear and my two dear kittens) that I don’t feel alone here in Helsingborg, despite not feeling like I have friends I can completely rely on here. I do have three friends whom I treasure, but I’m always a little unsure of how stable they are. One’s been in India for the past few months (coming back in a couple of weeks) and one’s in Denmark.

The third came back last week. Now, before I continue, you have to understand, I love her and the fact that there’s so much drive in her. She says her mind and we don’t always agree but that just gives for interesting discussions. She, like the other two have a strength I love to surround myself with. Despite all this, I was so nervous about meeting her today. My solitary bubble consisting of the Bear, the cats and myself got popped and I realised I all of sudden had to consider someone else other than the three creatures I live with. I also realised I’m nervous about meeting my old friends of 15 years in a few weeks up in Stockholm… and meeting up with a very old friend in London a couple of weeks after that. I worry that I’ll make an idiot of myself, that I’ll be a bore and that I’ll disappoint.

You see, I know and understand my dear Bear and two cats.

It was good to meet with Anna though. Friends are, after all, very nice to have. :) My neurotic soul on the other hand seems to belong to a crazy little hermit who likes to speak to strangers. Good thing I have some friends who break my solitude now and then.

Sweet kisses to all!

P.S. come to think of it, maybe that’s why I like to work so much? It breaks my solitude without having to invite people into my life…

Such excitement! February 22, 2009

So we had a little get-together yesterday consisting of a small buffe of foods with influences from Sweden, India and Italy. It was pleasant and the food was really very good, so I’m proud of mine and the Bears achievements (especially since I’m equal to kaos in the kitchen!) The point of the evening was not to get wasted (even if I’m not feeling very well today) but just to gather some friends, eat some good food and play some stupid (board)games. It’s a first for me so I’ve learnt something about these kinds of get togethers. By the end of the evening we came to three conclusions:
1) It takes a lot of time to cook buffe type foods (we were in the kitchen from noon to 6 pm!) …though it was worth it!
2) It’s very good to have a bedroom that can be shut off from everyone elses view (I didn’t have enough time to do a thorough cleaning of our apartment so there were nice big piles of stuff on our bed and floor :) during the party)
3) And for the love of god keep the level of the games as simple as possible, unless it’s a game that everybody knows! :)

The few of us who play “Munchkin” forgot how complicated games like that can feel if you’er not used to it, and more so if you’ve been drinking. Thus, our dear guests lost a little steam in the end of the evening, but they made a stout effort and that’s all an amatuerhostess like myself can ask for!

I tell you, after having bussled about the apartment for 6 hours, and then having had 7 other people coming over for 7 hours, our dear cats are completely frazzled. Osiris loved all that attention (they got most of throughout the evening) ofcourse, while Isis was blinded by fear during most of the evening. Both emotions apparantly have the same very sleepy consequence!

Apparantly it was too much excitement for me as well since it completely slipped my mind that I was supposed to work today, meaning that i was lying quite comfortably in our sofa relaxing until the Bear mentioned it. :)

These past weekends have seriously passed much too quickly. Sometimes I feel like I never get the chance to catch up on some much needed sleep that I need, but on the other hand, knowing myself I’ll just end up being bored if I don’t get to do all this stuff! :)

Anyway, as good as writing posts is a very good way of making time pass during boring shifts as today, I’m thinking that it’s getting a little long, what do you say? ;)

Sweet kisses to all! (Especially the Bear for being such a wonderful man!)

Silly Type of Training January 17, 2009

This sounds supersilly, but we’re toilet training our cats. ;) Reading this blogg, one could think it’s super easy, and I thought having wo cats they would learn fast as they’d show one another how it’s done, but no. I’m realizing it’s double the training.

Oh well, when it’s all done, we don’t have spend money on sand every month, take time to filter through the sand every night before going to bed and last but not least, we’ll be having the coolest cats in the neighborhood. Quite the perks. ;)

Kisses to all.

Best training tip I can give? Eat about 1 1/2 hours before training. Today was the first time this week I ate after the training, and I found myself straining more than I have the other two times. :P (Plus I eat more)

Well, atleast I’m not the only one completely fried. I vacuumed today so the cats are, as usual, completely exhausted from all the fear and excitment. ;)

Sweet kisses to all!

Oh man it’s nice to be home. The biggest reason probably being that it’s nice the big trip home is over! ;) I haven’t actually missed the little kitties while we’ve been gone since I knew they were in good hands but it was very nice to see them again! I never realized how much they’d grow in 2 weeks! …plus they’ve got their winterfur now so they’re ultra furry! Adorable.

First thing I noticed as soon as the parent-in-laws left though was how quiet it was! It’s hard to explain about all the sounds and noices that surround us everywhere in Trivandrum. In town it’s a chaotic bussle with for example all vehicles using their horns at every possible moment.

At home, on top of a hill you’d think it would be quite quiet but since we’re pretty much surrounded by forest there are all sorts of animal sounds all around us as well as very bad isolation meaning we hear the temples and churches (Indian churches not very much like the European ones) as well as anything else going on at the bottom of the hill.

So, it’s our first day back in Helsingborg and I’m dealing with a stomach that’s been getting worse as the trip got on and the Bear woke up with a cold. It’s good to be home. ;)

Sweet Kisses to all!

Awesome! …That’s how I feel about my place of apprenticeship! I’m so excited about this place I’m worried. :) I mean, talk about the dissapointments I’ll most probably be facing once I start there next year with such high hopes! After a cup of coffee and an introduction of about an hour I was entering super-maina mode (a nickname given to me during my stages of bounciness, taken from super mario) that for the last half hour I was partially impressing, partially scaring the instructor I’m meant to have next year. ;)

In all seriousness, this should be interesting!

Now we’ve also finally bought all the little things we need for the trip tomorrow and in a couple of hours the mother-in-law will be picking us and our cats up for dinner and after that, I won’t be seeing my little babies for 2 whole weeks *sniffle*.

Among all those little things we needed for the trip that we bought I actually managed to find a long summer dress (I found out that Abu Dhabi, which we’ll be exploring for a few hours before we continue on towards India is not the place to be wearing shorts, which makes sense). This is a real achievement for two reason:
1) It’s the middle of winter
2) I haven’t been able to find a long, easy-wear, every-day skirt or dress for almost 2 years now. During summer or any other season.

This is what bugs me about Sweden (and especially Helsingborg) it’s impossible to find any other clothes than that which is considered fashion or modern. (Wearing swimsuit is apparantly old-fashioned now a days).

Anyway, now all that’s left is packing our bags, going to school tomorrow and then finally heading off to India. Oh sun, how I missed you.

Sweet kisses to all!

So Much To Do! December 4, 2008

2 weeks left until we’re off to India! I’m looking forward to it, in an apprehensive kind of way. :) A LOT of good food, warm weather, cheap shopping, interesting travelling, family. Can it get better? :D

Alot of things going on until then though.

1) I find out a) if I have any kind of talent what so ever in talking with my future klients; b) what apprentice work I’ll be spending 4 months of next year with.

2) I’ll be juggling my regular lectures with some old lectures that I need to get a passing grade for last years lectures.

3) Make sure my little babies (our cats) settle properly in at the “parent-in-laws” place. Osiris (AKA too-curious-to-be-scared) should find himself in seventh heaven with all the new corners to explore. This is most probably mostly for my guilt-ridden soul sakes although Isis (AKA too-scared-to-be-curious) will probably appreciate it. :)

4) A traditional trip to the local christmas market.

5) Birthday celebration of the “sister-in-law”

ect, ect.

"Idébooking"!
“ideabooking”!

Along with all this I have a bunch little hobbies I’ve started up just last week.

Did I mention that I don’t usually do very much with my days? ;)

Sweet kisses to all!

What did I do?! October 23, 2008

My poor cats just got nudered and sterilised… The poor things came home so drugged up and forlorn I was getting guilty pangs all evening. I didn’t dare move around the apartment too much with the poor things dragging/wobbling themselves in a blacked out state to be in our proximity.

Glad to have that over and done with though and I’m glad to have them home. :) Felt eery being at home without the pitter-patter of kittens, or keeping an eye on what our dear creatures of destruction would destroy next. I guess it’s true what they say about getting used to madness, and finally not being able to relax if there is none. :)

Sweet guilty kisses to all!

Today’s gonna be a good day because:

I have a day off, I’ve got a loving boyfriend who I’m going out to have dinner with tonight, I have two lovely little cats who were little angels last night and thus let me have a good nights sleep.

Now, I’m going back to sleep. ;)

Sweet kisses to all.
